MapNTL.com –Nigeria’s Interactive Map wins RIMA Foundation’s 2008 Award for the most Innovative Location-Based Solution in Nigeria -August 2008

 

MapNTL.com –Nigeria’s foremost online interactive map has won the prestigious 2008 RIMA Foundation award for the most innovative and successful project using Geographic Information Systems The award under “GIS Project” category was given to Spatial Technologies Ltd (STL) the owner of the interactive online map portal at a colourful ceremony held at the luxurious Sheraton Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos on August 30, 2008.

RIMA Foundation awards are given as recognition to organisations (public and private) that have demonstrated excellence in their chosen fields, designing and implementing products relating to Information Management, security and technology for the benefit of their profession and humanity. 

STL is Nigeria’s leader in mapping and location base technologies. The company together with 3DT and Global Technologies Ltd (UK Based) recently implemented a multi-million naira advanced address geocoding solution for a prominent bank in Lagos using MapInfo technology. The project involved geocoding the residential address of over 1,000,000 customers. With this solution, the bank can see the geographic spread of its customers and use this in making informed business decisions in the location of its new branches and ATMs across Nigeria. The project marked the first successful attempt by any company to geocode addresses in the history of mapping in Nigeria considering the complex and primitive address system in Nigeria.
